Grace Darling

In the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, where the rhythm of life dances to the beat of a jazzy musical gumbo… singer, saxophonist and songwriter, Grace Darling, found her voice.

From a very young age Grace was drawn to music, and by the time she turned thirteen, she was already a very accomplished vocalist, pianist and saxophonist. While still in her teens, she extensively toured Costa Rica and Europe, recording and performing with a group of elite young jazz musicians called, “The American Youth Jazz Band.” Highlights include performing at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Grace is grateful for the amazing teachers and mentors she has had throughout her life… including Ellis Marsalis, Terrence Blanchard, and many more. But, a pivotal moment in her career came when she caught the attention of the legendary, Allen Toussaint, during a performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. As she stepped off the stage, he introduced himself and invited her to join him on the main stage the following day… which of course she gladly accepted! This marked the beginning of a 28-year journey where he became her most influential mentor. Toussaint produced her acclaimed CD, “Imaginary Lover.” The recording also features contributions from another music legend, Grammy winner and Hall of Famer, Al Kooper (Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Lynyrd Skynyrd…), who penned the title track.

However, Grace faced significant challenges after two horrific car accidents sidelined her from the music scene. Through resilience, determination, and fueled by a huge love for her craft… Grace has returned to the stage - reminding us of music's healing power.

Having performed locally, nationally, and internationally, has given Grace a unique perspective on music and how it connects us all. She especially enjoyed a two-month jazz gig in Singapore. Here she met and played with exceptional musicians from all over the world including saxophonist, David Sanborn, who sat in for an impromptu jam one night. She has graced stages for U.S. and foreign Presidents, major events and festivals, across the country and overseas, and has performed alongside music icons like Aaron Neville, Kid Rock, Bonnie Raitte, and Jimmy Buffet. Her band consists of only the finest musicians in New Orleans, ensuring that every performance is exceptional.

Grace Darling’s journey embodies the essence of “blues, jazz and the music of New Orleans” - born from struggles and triumphs, and thriving through creative exploration and discovery. With her unique sound and connection to the Crescent City, Grace's highly relatable music continues to grow, evolve, and resonate deeply.
